Organic oats with a slight twist!

Wholesome-oats-with-purple-flowers
Sometimes, I find porridge oats quite boring. So here’s what i did to make it more exciting and appetising.

Ingredients:

  • Wholesome Oats
  • Fresh raspberries
  • Premium Date Syrup
  • A dash of coconut milk

I just loved it.

Nutritive goodness:

I am sure it’s common knowledge that oat grains are incredibly nutritious. They are also rich in antioxidants and contain a large amount of soluble fiber in addition to making a filling oatmeal.

They are high in skin soothing mucilage and saponins which explains their use in skin care products. My favourite facial cleanser/ exfoliator cum mask, has finely ground oats as one of the major ingredients. You may check it out here.

Homeopathic Significance:

The scientific name for Oats is Avena Sativa. It can be indicated in nervous states of many female troubles. Boericke says it’s the best tonic for debility after exhausting diseases. Other indications include alcoholism, amenorrhoea, brain fatigue, colds, coryza and sleeplessness, to name a few.
Again, it should be understood that a prescription based on just these symptoms will only make a superficial one, consequently aligning with a lower level of experience.

Sleeplessness; restlessness, nervousness, from: avena-sativa. This symptom is not uncommon at all.

Not so long ago, whilst on “The Homeopathic Helpline”, there was a call asking for some help for an elderly person suffering severe nervous exhaustion after repeated use of morphine. I took no time to name the remedy – Avena Sativa 30c. The person on the other side of the call asked me if I could prescribe a more common remedy for the condition. The way she said it made me laugh. However, I advised that she should send for this one as it would be a better match for the lady’s state and hence more likely to make her feel better.
A little later, the same person called to say that she had found Avena Sativa in the form of mother tincture (fresh plant in flowering). I was pleasantly amused. I said to myself, “Someone in that family, perhaps a person from a previous generation, was a staunch believer of homeopathy and kept a well stocked HOMEOPATHIC medicine kit”.

Possible rubrics:

I have now put some rubrics that match the case.
